Tips for Air Travel: Section 2

My hometown, so I’m a bit biased, San Francisco, California, USA - Great vacation spot!

Hi all! Here at Brooke In The Air we’re committed to sharing the best ins-and-outs of air travel. I thought I’d share some more great tips after Blog 38 (Tips Section #1) went over well! I’ll add to this as more tips and tricks come to mind.

Airport tip: Los Angeles-LAX is the most headache inducing domestic airport to get to. The best way to get to LAX is to get a friend to drive you. Otherwise, you’ll need to allocate at least four hours to airport transit via rideshare such as Uber and Lyft or common taxi service.

LAX requires rideshares and taxis to drop you off at least a mile from the designated gates/terminals.

If you happened a rent a car, once you manage to find the vehicle drop-off for your vehicle service, you'll need to find the right shuttle to get to your terminal. LAX isn't the only airport that has this procedure, but they do make it convoluted, difficult, worrisome, and confusing.

Once you get into the airport and through security, depending on your time management, I hope you can walk fast with your carry on. Or that you're lucky enough to be in Terminal 1.

It is very similar for Chicago-O'Hare international airport (ORD) as they have a very similar set up. The easiest way is to simply transfer through the airport on a connecting flight. Otherwise, I recommend taking the metro-train from downtown Chicago which runs to ORD and the smaller Midway.
