Lufthansa's New Allegris First and Business class!

Lufthansa new Airbus A350-900

Welcome back to Brooke In The Air! Today we’re going over a flight i’m taking soon: the new Allegris business class on the A350-900XWB by Lufthansa! This is truly exciting as Allegris is Lufthansa's homegrown product and aims to revolutionize first class and business class flying. Normally, airlines outsource for new fare classes and class designs but Lufthansa decided to design their own.

Now, Allegris was supposed to debut in 2015, then 2018, then the COVID-19 pandemic pushed it back further with an unspecified launch date. Now in 2024 and into 2025, most of Lufthansa's long-haul aircraft will be refit with the new Allegris cabins.

Economy and premium economy will largely be unaffected aside from an overall cabin refresh. But first class will feature a fully enclosed suite with privacy doors, a massive LED in-flight entertainment screen, suites tailored for each individual traveler.

FIRST CLASS AND OVERVIEW

Lufthansa’s Allegris First Class Suite

I will let Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines, put it best here in his own words. “Every guest has their own understanding of premium, which is why we focus on maximum individuality and exclusivity. The First Class Suite Plus conveys the feeling of privacy and individuality similar to a hotel room – only at an altitude of eleven kilometers.”

Some of the highlights of first class include: suites with a personal wardrobe, large dining table, full-suite-width screens, heated and cooled seats, shoulder sink-in and wireless charging module.

Let’s move on to business class! Remember this is all on the Airbus A350-900XWB, the Boeing 777X and 787 Dreamliner, and premium classes will enjoy even more space on the Allegris fitted A380 superjumbo, and the 747-8i. The aging A340-500s and -600s may or may not be fitted with Allegris cabins depending on the cost benefit ratio and probable return on investment.

According to Lufthansa, “For the first time, guests in Lufthansa Business Class can also look forward to their own suite, which offers even more comfort and privacy due to chest-high walls and sliding doors. Here, travelers in the first rows can enjoy extended personal space, a monitor 27” wide” and ample storage.

“With "Allegris," the freedom of choice for Business Class guests has never been greater. Travelers can choose between four additional seat options, depending on whether they want an extra-long bed measuring 2.20 meters, extra space and work area, a seat with a baby bassinet, or simply an exclusive seat directly by the window. A double seat, in which the center console can be retracted to transform it into a reclining surface for two, is also available.” According to Lufthansa's site.

High seat walls and generous shoulder space provide greater privacy in all options.

The seats can be converted into a bed at least two meters long and also offer high-definition screens (4K), generously-sized dining tables, wireless charging, noise-canceling headphones and Bluetooth connectivity. All seats are also equipped with a heating and cooling system, giving business class travelers the flexibility to set their own temperature.

For extra-comfortable side sleeping, seats also feature a shoulder sink-in, allowing the shoulder to sink into the seat, increasing sleeping comfort for side sleepers. A tablet-sized control unit provides access to all seating, lighting, heating/cooling and entertainment functions. Naturally, each seat is directly accessible from the aisle.

Highlights of the new Business Class include:

Five seat options (including an extra-long bed, greater personal space, or a double seat), heated and cooled seats, shoulder sink-in, wireless charging module, and a personal minibar in the suite.

Own devices (mobile devices, wireless headphones) can be connected to the entertainment system via Bluetooth.

The five Business Class seating options in detail:

1) Suites in the first row. Double suite inside, single suites by the window.

2) Extra-Space Seat: Unique, spacious single seat with extra work surface.

3) Window seat with a high degree of privacy.

4) Seat with extra-long bed (2.20 meters).

5) Classic Business Class Seat: The aisle is directly accessible from all seats. This is what you would expect from a business class seat.

PREMIUM ECONOMY

The new Premium Economy Class has already been introduced at SWISS in Spring of 2022.

The "Allegris" seat offers more legroom, a fold-out leg rest, and can be adjusted even further back than the current model.

Because it will be integrated into a hard shell, however, adjusting it will have no effect on fellow passengers in the row behind.

The table and monitor always remain in position. For more comfort, Premium Economy Class passengers will also receive a travel amenity kit made of sustainable materials.

Modern seat in hardshell design and with more free space. Greater seat pitch (99 centimeters), wireless charging of mobile devices in the personal center armrest, noise-canceling headphones.

BASIC ECONOMY

More space, more choice

You are not forgotten!

“With the new "Allegris" product generation, Lufthansa is also giving its guests significantly more choice in Economy Class. In the future, travelers will have the option of booking additional seats in the first rows that offer more legroom, or a free seat next to them.”

Economy Class with greater seat pitch (79 centimeters), tablet holders, USB ports and additional comfort in the first rows (86 centimeters seat pitch). Possibility to book a free seat next to you.

With "Allegris", more than 80 brand-new Lufthansa aircraft, such as Boeing 787-9s, Airbus A350s and Boeing 777-9s, will fly to destinations around the world. Aircraft already in service with Lufthansa, such as the Boeing 747-8, will also be retrofitted. The simultaneous improvement of the travel experience in all classes and the replacement of more than 27,000 seats are unique in Lufthansa's history. In this way, the company is underscoring its clear premium, quality claim. By 2025, the Lufthansa Group will invest a total of 2.5 billion euros (€) in product and service.- Lufthansa public relations.
